GMDSS is a requirement! There are many myths and rumors floating around regarding applicability, but according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System is in effect. Ships are required to be in compliance with all aspects of 47 C.F.R Part 80, Subpart W, which details GMDSS requirements. Subpart W starts on 80.1065 and continues to 80.1135 if you are interested in conducting your own research on regulations affecting your vessel. The Sea Technology Company is ready to assist you in all aspects of GMDSS. We can install a new system, repair an old, or modify an existing system as you need. We can also FCC certify your installation. In addition, if you need a certificate proving that you have shore based maintenance available to your vessel, we will provide it at no charge (see example).
